I Am Awesome is a healthy workbook for kids, concentrating on developing positive self-esteem. The book contains six chapters, one on each of the six areas of maturity: personal, emotional, physical, social, intellectual, and ethical maturity. It also has an Appendix with good things to know and fun things to do.
My expertise on the topic of improving self esteem mostly comes from over 30 years of teaching health and fitness to middle-schoolers. Wellness in general has always been a passion of mine, and the self esteem of our youth has been my main focus. We all have stressors. The stressors may change, but they never go away. So, I want to help kids learn how to deal with what life throws at them, while feeling positive about themselves and their futures.
Throughout my career I have offered several afterschool activities that help target the need for kids to feel better about themselves. Some examples are: weight-loss clubs; drug-free clubs; jump rope teams; dance teams; and a club called, Feeling Good.
